and she loves to hear me sing...

She's probably the only one who loves to hear me sing, but as long as she likes it, I'll do it! Well, the other night I got home from a very busy and stressful day at work and decided to just lay down on the couch for a while. As I'm laying there I decided that it would be nice if little Baby Girl Amen would wake up and entertain me so that I could actually enjoy it. (It seems like I'll notice her moving and kicking a lot during the day at work when I can't really enjoy it as much as when I'm at home.) So, I started poking and prodding at my tummy trying to get her to wake up. I was talking to her, trying to coax her to become alert. Nothing was working. She was as still as still could be. I decided that I'd try singing to her to see if that would wake her up. I started off with Itsy Bitsy Spider...nothing. I moved on to the ABCs...nothing. Next I tried Row Row Row Your Boat...nothing. I was about to give up when I thought of one of my favorite kid songs that Grandpa "Pete" taught me. I don't know if it has a real name, but I call it the Bakery Shop Song. Well, I started singing it and sure enough, Baby Girl Amen likes the song, too. She started kicking and moving through the whole song. It was a lot of fun to sing to her when I knew that she was listening and could actually hear me! Here are the lyrics to the Bakery Shop song...

Well, I walked downtown and I walked around the block
I walked right in to the bakery shop
I pulled three doughnuts right out of the grease
and handed the lady a five cent piece.

Well, she looked at the nickel and she looked at me
She said that nickel's no good to me
It's got a hole in the middle and it goes straight through
Said I to the lady, so's your doughnuts, too!

Anyways, sorry that I didn't post anything new last week. I've said it many times before, but I've been swamped at work. This coming week is the last week at school with kids, so I'm very excited! Then after Memorial Day I go back for 3 teacher work days to end out my school year! June 1st is officially my first day of summer vacation! YIPPEEE!! I can't wait! I have my next doctor's appointment the following week, but I doubt I'll learn anything new. I know that Baby Girl Amen is growing and getting stronger. I feel healthy and I'm trying to stay that way. I've made the appointment for a 3-D ultrasound for July 2nd, too, so that will tell us how things are looking as the summer progresses. For Mother's Day I invited Baby Girl Amen's grandmas to join me at her 3-D ultrasound. It should be pretty cool and I'll even get a CD with all of the pictures from the ultrasound, so I'll be able to share them all with you afterwards! Here's a copy of the invitation that the grandmas got for Mother's Day...

...
Well, I posted this blog on Saturday the 19th, but today, Sunday, I made a big purchase that I needed to share with everyone. I ordered the nursery furniture today! I really like it and it should go well with the bedding I picked out. I'm so excited to get the room ready and see it all put together!! Here are pictures of what I bought. The picture of the crib is actually what it will look like when it's converted into a toddler bed. They don't have a picture of what it looks like with the railing on in the honey pine finish that I ordered.
